Magnificent Antique Persian Farahan Sarouk 8’7” x 12’ Circa 1890-1900
8’ 7” x 12 Antique Farahan Sarouk Masterpiece, a fantastic Carpet woven in the Farahan District of West Persia, made around 1890-1910. This one is special, and it offers timeless elegance and beautiful craftsmanship. Very well preserved, with evenly worn pile, and vivid tones of Rusty Red or Deep Salmon, Aquamarine, Cream, Coral, Navy and Sky Blue, Jade and Camel. These Farahan Sarouks represent the epitome of Early Persian export luxury weaving. This rug has an impressive 324 KPSI, a exceptionally fine weave for the breed, and came from a superior workshop. Additionally, it has comparably few repairs and retains most of its original area, only the 1/2 inch outermost border is lost on each end. The Ends and Edges have been expertly reinforced, re-selveged and the rug has no major repairs. The closely cut pile is mostly worn low through honest wear, but the drawing and design are still spectacular with Arabesque Spandrels and a vivid Central medallion. Its 7 border have excellent Palmettes and Rosettes, typical of Farahan Sarouks. This beautiful Rug was Professionally washed July, 2023 and it will be carefully shipped Nationwide or delivered in the Chicago area to the Discerning buyer who appreciates it’s value and investment potential.
